Commandments for an Altar Guild:
I. Follow a regular plan of spiritual discipline in prayer, worship, confessions, communions. We must be Godly.
II. Study with a regular plan, your church and her teachings. Attend a lecture course annually; read at least one good book on the Faith Annually. We must be intelligent.

III. Know the needs of your particular parish and your job. There is no excuse for pious fumbling. We must be efficient.

IV. Know that you can never be worthy of the privilege of serving in God's Sanctuary. You do not do God a favor by your work. it is a vocation. We must be humble.

V. Know that you are not just called to ecclesiastical housekeeping. Altar Guild work should be equipping us as responsible leaders in the parish at large. We must be reverent key people of the parish.

VI. Understand your task is not simply routine and mechanical. It must be seen as an opportunity for joyous discipleship and enthusiastic service to the living Christ.

VII. Realize how fortunate you are in this service to God's Altar. We must be thankful.

Intercessory Prayer
The Intercessory Prayer Group meets every Wednesday at 9:45 AM to pray. There are usually six or seven people praying for the congregation. In addition they individually prayer for the congregation at home each day.  Prayer requests may be phoned in to the office, placed in the offering plate during services, or given directly to a member of the prayer group.
Principles of Effective Intercession:
1. Praise God for who He is, and for the privilege of engaging in the same ministry as Christ (Hebrews 7:25)

2. Make sure your heart is clean before God, give the Holy Spirit time to convict, should there by any unconfessed sin (Psalm 66:18)

3. Acknowledge you can't pray without the direction and energy of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26). Ask God to utterly control you by His Spirit (Ephesians 5:18)

4. Deal aggressively with the enemy. Come against him in the all-powerful Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and with the "sword of the spirit" the word of God (James 4:7, Ephesians 6:11)

5. Surrender your own imaginations, desires, and burdens for what you feel you should pray (Proverbs 3:5-6 & 28:26, Isaiah 55:8)

6. Praise God now in faith for the remarkable prayer meeting you are going to have. He is a remarkable God and will do something consistent with His character. (1 Kings 8:56, 2 Corinthians 1:20)

7. Wait before God in silent expectancy listening for His direction (Psalm 62:5, Micah 7:7, Psalm 81:11-13)

8. In obedience and faith utter what God brings to your mind, believing (John 10:27)

9. Keep asking God for direction, expecting Him to give it to you for He is the Shepherd of our souls. (Psalm 27:11, Jeremiah 31:9)

10. Make sure you don't move on to the next subject until you have given the Lord time to discharge all He wants to say regarding this burden. Especially, when praying in a group. (Psalm 46:10, Isaiah 46:10)

11. If possible have your Bible with you should God want to give you direction or confirmation from it. (Psalm 119:105)

12. When God ceases to bring things to you mind to pray for, finish by praising and thanking Him for what He has done. (Psalm 139:13-14)
